The interactive educational programme and exhibition was organised in the backdrop of the UN proclaiming 2022 as the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA 2022). DOPA highlighted the important role played by women in fish value chain and outlined activities for the celebration of IYAFA 2022. It challenged the more than 50 participants to envision their role in working towards sustainable fisheries, improved livelihood and food security.

A special ceremony to officially open the 5th Oyster Closed Season was held on 30th April 2022 at Tsokomey, Greater Accra Region. The multistakeholder event was organized by the Densu Oyster Pickers Association (DOPA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MoFAD) and other partners.
Nii Adotey Acquaye, the Chief Fisherman of Kokrobite inaugurated the event. Other invited dignitaries were Hannah Boakye, the Greater Accra Regional Director of Fisheries, Peter Adjei- ICSF, Benjamin Nyampong- ICSF, Olivia Horvey- Zonal Fisheries Officer for the Ga South Municipality, Anthony Wasipe – Fisheries Commission, Promise Hunya and Bernice Bebli,- DOPA Executives, Nii Bortianor, Sakumo Okyeame Rebecca Ayi, Lydia Sasu -Executive Director of Development Action Association(DAA), Emelia Nortey- DAA Fisheries Training Centre (DFTC), Sandra Sasu DAA, and Elias Akakpo, DAA.
